I make science accessible, inclusive, and empowering through community-focused leadership, innovative programming, and educational content.
BrainE Hour at The City University of New York
I co-founded BrainE Hour, a science communication program that supports graduate students across 25 CUNY campuses in developing public engagement and presentation skills.
Our programming cultivates a supportive environment where trainees grow as communicators through:
Hands-on science communication workshops
Guest speaker events
Interactive “data blitz” presentations
Training from external experts in science storytelling and public speaking
CUNY Neuroscience Program Representative to the Biology Department Executive Committee
As the elected Neuroscience Student Representative (2022-2024), I advocated for the academic success and well-being of fellow students. My work focused on mental health, pay equity, and systemic challenges in graduate education.
Highlights of my leadership:
Co-developed a mental health survey with CUNY’s Office of Institutional Research
Co-authored a letter to external reviewers addressing delayed pay and student hardship
Created a CUNY Neuroscience Student Handbook to support incoming trainees
Global STEM Alliance, The New York Academy of Sciences
As a Program Leader for global virtual programs, I guided thousands of international secondary school students and mentors.
My key contributions:
Created research literacy curriculum on peer review, reading scientific literature, and research credibility
Led virtual STEM programs across 100+ countries, training students to engage critically with peer-reviewed science aligned with SDGs
Interviewed the Academy’s CEO, Nick Dirks, in an Instagram Live Q&A about science leadership and global education
Represented the Academy in global strategy sessions and education partnerships
